Lazy Friday

Reading: Bloglovin. I’m pretty pleased with how it works. Although I would like to find a way to click to the actual blog if I want to link to it.

Watching: The rain

Dreading: The weather for tomorrow. It is supposed to be 68 but with the rain and what-not, I’m not sure what race day weather will be like. And if I can manage them!

Feeling: Very tired. I was up sometime in the middle of the night with Leo while he complained of aching legs. Then he woke up again around 3:30 and of course couldn’t get back to sleep. Even though he easily did and was snoring next to me!

Wondering: If I’m going to make it through the obstacle course race I’m running tomorrow!

Planning: My day away from my boys. Not much time to do anything so I’m hoping to get some rest.

Wishing: For peace in the country

Worried: About my grandpa. He was admitted to the hospital yesterday. All seems well today so hoping that stays the same.

Thankful: For my family

Craving: Taco Bell. Seriously. I can’t get enough of it!

Learning: That I am not a good motivator. I’ve been registered for this race since November but I kept putting off my training. And now the race is here and I am not properly trained. Ah well. It is what it is.

Thinking: Slow days like this at work leaves me too much time to think. Of course I am thinking of all the things I could be doing if I were home instead of here slacking off!

Loving: That I get to go eat lunch with the hubby. And at 5 Guys no less. Yum!

Got this little diddy from Hannah. Go check her out!

Don't quote me on that

I’m pretty sure that if they had actual reality shows for normal/abnormal (depending on how you look at it) then my life would be the perfect show. The hubby and I spend about 90% of our conversations working in movie and television quotes. Sometimes we’ll even throw lyrics in from songs. And since Leo is now old enough for comedic relief he throws in a quote every now and again. It’s actually quite hilarious. I know there are some days where this gets on my last nerve because, seriously, I just want to have a normal conversation. And then there are other days where it seems like every sentence is something that could have gone one way or another depending on where we took it. So here are just a few of the ones that we use on a pretty regular basis…

Can’t rain all the time. – The Crow

Hey little pig….BOO! –Space Jam (this is a Leo quote)

Fishy-fishay –McDonalds commercial (Leo started singing this at the drive through at McDonalds while the hubby was trying to order. So hilarious)

This is going to be legend-wait for it-dary –How I Met Your Mother

Any time I say I’m uncomfortable the hubby will ask me “Like in the back of a Volkswagon” from Mallrats.

Again, any time we have to say the number 37 we will make a sucking noise…thanks to Clerks.

Pretty much every. single. Kevin Smith movie is quotable. There are so many good ones that work in every day conversations.

Mm-hmmm. What? You don’t own that—Scrubs

Her-dee-der –Cougartown (this one was all me. I freaking love that show! And Christa Miller is hilarious!)

Seriously though, we are pretty much a bunch of movie-loving dorks in our house and can muster up quotes for almost every conversation. It’s a little difficult to come up with them on the spot without having a conversation to go with. But above is a good list!

Stop by Second Blooming to see other quotables this week. I’m sure it will be a doozy!

RTT: Candy Crush, Dignity and Ladders

It's been awhile since I've posted on Random Tuesday Thoughts. And since I'm trying to find more things to blog about I've actually been trying to think of posts before I post them. Such a novel idea. And since I know that RTT is coming I can prepare. Which is why I'm technically writing this on Sunday and it will magically post on Tuesday. Ahhh the power of the interwebs!

I have officially become that person that is semi-obsessed with a game on Facebook. I love Candy Crush. I had to tell Leo that he is not allowed to play my Candy Crush because I don't want him wasting my turns. I don't pay for stuff so I have to wait for my lives to rejuvenate and if he's playing them then they're gone before I get to play. I told him I don't play Marvel Avengers and use his turns so he can't play my Candy Crush.

My dignity has also been lost to my child when it comes to the restroom. I try to teach him to not announce when he has to use the restroom and to just go. Especially when we're at home. I also do the same. I do not announce when I have to use the restroom. But of course when you only have one bathroom that is not always possible. And of course the moment it hits you and you have to go RIGHT THEN is the moment they're dilly-dallying after you've asked them to take a bath. Or brush their teeth. Or do anything in the restroom that at that point you want them to be anywhere but there. So of course they want to know what you're doing. And why you're rushing them out. Gotta love'em!

The hubby was doing some housework the other day and I was helping steady the ladder. I saw the stupidest picture on the ladder and wanted to share it with you. But of course I was helping so I didn't have my phone. It was basically a picture that said to not step past the 3rd to last step. Which made me wonder why they even put steps that go higher if they don't want you to use them. And does that picture really prevent people from not going up any higher? Probably not because I sure have stepped on the next step up. Please don't report me to the police!

The house across the street from us is for sale. Again. I swear in the 9 years we've lived in our house the house has had multiple owners/renters and been for sale at least 3 times. It has 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. It also has a basement. In comparison our house has 3 bedrooms, 1 bath and no basement. It is selling for $55,000. It annoys me when houses like that go for sale for so cheap. I get why and with the economy but for real. It really puts a damper on us wanting to try to put our house back on the market. (For our area and for houses around that size they are selling between $80,000-$90,000 just FYI)

I've seen quite a few people doing weekly update posts using their pictures from Instagram. And I really like that idea so I'm going to totally start doing that. Which means if you follow me on Instagram and my blog then you're going to see duplicates. Also, you're going to probably see a lot more random pictures than you already do!

I have been CRAVING ice cream since Lent. My plan was that as soon as Easter hit then I would get some ice cream. But that was about 2 weeks ago and I've yet to have ice cream. It is a little ridiculous. Part of it is that the Braums in our town does not have a drive through and I am lazy and hate going inside to get my food. But they are building a new one in our town with a drive through and I am so excited. Obviously I will get my ice cream fix before it is a built (I hope!) but I am definitely looking forward to it.

Ok, that is definitely enough random for you guys. But make sure you go visit Stacy and all the other randomers today!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was pretty reserved for us. We had no plans and that worked out well since I spent Saturday puny with a migraine.

We woke up Saturday morning and had to take the hubby's car to get the oil changed and a tire with a hole in it patched. Instead of either of us having to stay there while it was getting fixed I just followed him up there and dropped it off. Off we went as a family to eat a "special" breakfast at McDonalds. After, we still hadn't heard from the shop so we went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few necessities for the weekend. After spending almost an hour at Wal-Mart (you know...to pick up the 3 things we went in for and walked out with over a $100 worth of stuff) we still hadn't heard from the shop so we just drove by to see if the car was finished. It was and so we were able to keep our day moving along. We went and got the boys' hair cut and took Leo to his bowling league. Finally we were able to go home and relax. The rest of the day was spent napping, watching the Master's and then finishing our day watching the Royals lose for the second straight day. Booo!

Sunday we got to sleep in until almost 8! Woo hoo! I made some (frozen) waffles for the boys, did the dishes and started laundry all before 9:30. I also made one of those Kraft Fresh Takes for dinner. It's a mix you add to chicken. We'd had it before and of course Leo was not a fan so I just made some plain chicken for him and the hubby and I enjoyed the cheddar, bacon, ranch flavor on ours! And I had a packet of Red Lobster biscuits...oh my gosh. Pretty sure that was heaven in a box!

All in all it was a pretty great weekend. The next few weekends are going to be pretty hectic so it was nice to kind of have a last hurrah of a stress-less weekend!

Mommy Guilt

Mommy guilt is a fickle friend. My co-worker and I were talking about it because we have both been battling allergy/headache issues lately and it doesn't always allow us to fulfill our mommy duties nightly. We talked about how we don't specifically feel bad for making our spouse pick up the slack because lord knows we are the ones who normally pick up the slack. But we feel bad because we are missing out on doing the things with our kids that we normally do. I think this is a very ridiculous thing to feel but I can't make myself quit.

Here is an example...
Saturday I was fighting a lingering migraine and even though no one was doing anything special I felt like I was missing out on stuff. So instead of laying in bed and trying to get over it I got up and laid out on the couch. All because I felt like I was missing stuff by being in my room. That is not rational. Had I just stayed in bed I might have gotten over it quicker and then actually had an idea of something fun to do.

I need to try to stray away from this mindset. I know that I am a good mom and spend most of my waking time (away from work) with my kids so if I have an off day and want to go to bed early or if I have a girls night out and won't be home in time to tuck in the boys I shouldn't feel bad.

Do you guys face mommy guilt? I know I've talked about this before but seriously...it is neverending!

The Truth About Love

Yesterday I talked about the new P!NK album that I bought. I'm pretty much in love with it but these two songs are my favorite.

This first one is the song "Just Give Me A Reason" that she sings with Nate Ruess from Fun. It's pretty much the reason I bought the album but all the songs are good.

After listening to the other songs on this album I found this little gem. It is "True Love" and it is so awesome. It pretty much sums up my relationship. I've always said that my hubby drives me crazy but I love him so much.

I tried to embed the videos but neither one would work...whether it was user error, Blogger error or just plain errors. So go take a gander and see if you like them!

(Also, this post was obviously not sponsored but if P!NK wants to take me on tour with her and/or pay me for this post she can!)

Random Friday Thoughts

Random thoughts on a Friday-

My 24 year old, male co-worker signed off on an email to me XOXO Gossip Girl. I still think he's a perfect match for my K-State alum BFF!

Why do they put an expiration date on puppy chow? Do they think I'm not going to inhale the bag once it's open?

I heard the song Mama's Broken Heart by Miranda Lambert on the radio with lyrics that said 'Hide your crazy and start actin' like a lady' and just cracked up. Even though it's a silly song I completely get it. I know after things have been rough you just have to put on a good face to make things look a little better.

My Royals are in first place in their division and are riding a 4 game winning streak! I know it's only April but baseball is starting out wonderful.

Mother Nature has gone a little crazy in Kansas. Monday was 71, Tuesday was 73, Wednesday was rainy then turned to sleet and was 34 and today the high is 52. This weekend is supposed to be 76. Seriously? Just pick a temp (preferably in the 70s) and stick with it. My hubby's hometown had a degree differential of 50 degrees from Tuesday to Wednesday. Crazy!

I'm not very familiar with iTunes and when I went to buy the new P!NK album I bought the edited version because I figured the one with the red E meant edited. Nope-it means explicit. Oh well.

I started using Bloglovin since Reader will be going away soon and it works just the same. Good enough for me!

My inspiration

You know those days where you just need that one thing to get you through. Because you know if you can get to that one thing then everything is going to be ok. These are mine...

School Schmool

You know when you have so much to do and no time ever to do it? And then you add two kiddos and hubby who always seems to need just a little more supervision than is necessary? Well that has pretty much been my life recently. I feel over worked and under paid/appreciated. But that's neither here nor there. I wanted to blog about more meaningful things and whining about how much I have to do and how little time I have seems silly. So I'm going to whine about something else. Haha.

I am a room parent for Leo's Kindergarten class. And while the job is not hard people make it a lot harder than it needs to be. Like when the other room parent and I were trying to plan the Christmas party (yes Christmas...he goes to a Catholic school!). We were talking about gift bags and then the game to play. She thought everyone needed to win a prize at BINGO. I really just didn't think that was necessary. Not only was the party only 30 minuts and there are 18 kids in the class and we were having snacks AND a book exchange on top of BINGO I just didn't think that all the kids needed to win. Because I'm that person. Life's not fair. So that took some emails back and forth. Now the two of us and the three room moms from the other Kindergarten class are in charge of a lunch for all of the staff at the school. Again, I don't think this is that difficult of a scenario. Nothing that a few emails couldn't knock out in 2 or 3 days. But no, one of the moms thought that we needed to meet at the local Panera at 7 on a school night. I didn't really thing much about it other than how obnoxious it was for me to have to rush home, get dinner ready and then get back to Panera by 7. But then I get there and everyone is real chatty. And they start talking. And then it hits me. These are all stay at home moms. All but 2 of us stay at home and so this was a way for them to get out of the house. And so from then on I was annoyed. And in a meeting that lasted an hour we talked about the lunch for all of 10 minutes. The rest of the time they were cackling like little hens. Also, they made it a lot more difficult than it needed to be. The office said that sandwiches and salads would be great. So instead of cold cuts they've decided that we need to do hot sandwiches. Seriously?! Aw well. Next year I'll know not to sign up to be a room parent and I'll be a shining example of a parent in the class who volunteers to help when needed. Haha!
