Tears and a smile

So today is the end of an era at the bank I work. My friend of close to 4 years is moving on to the next phase in her life and I am sad. But at the same time I am a little happy. Happy for her because she is going to start her teaching program with the local university and happy for me for a selfish reason. After I became a direct supervisor to her I got stuck in a lot of the petty battles between her and the manager. But now that she is leaving I will be able to enjoy her company without having to worry about if it will make said manager angry and vice versa. So good luck to her and my tears will shed only when I am not able to email you when the stupid customer is annoying me!

so much stuff

Well I don't have a lot going on in my life but I have a lot of stuff going on in my mind. Today I will be discussing how I do not want to have friends at work. Ever. Again. I have now thought at great lengths about this. My fellow blogger had a post that said she didn't like to make friends at work and I laughed at her. Only because if I don't make friends at work I don't really have places that I go to meet new people. Well turns out she was probably right!

I have a great friend at work. But now that she is leaving she is not being the bestest friend in the world. But only in the work-friend sense. I just see a lot of different things when we work together than when we hang out. I love this girl outside of work. And when she leaves in January, things will be fantastic! I will throw her a wedding shower and be so excited. And I have had friends that I have worked with in the past and things just always change when you are "co-workers." And I am starting to make a new friend at the new place I work. We are even in an exercise program together. I just don't want to get to the point in a friendship that I can get let down by someone. And there, ladies and gentlemen is why I don't have a lot of friends. I don't like getting let down. I know Leo won't let me down because he's my spouse and we have an arrangement. And my mom won't let me down, well to be honest because she's my mom. So I understand now why people say that they don't have friends at work. Screw friends! Oh wait, I mean just at work!

Bravo

So as some of you know my dear husband and I both work in a bank. He was "chosen" to manage a branch while the real manager was on maternity leave. It was ridiculous at times because of the stupidity of the employees and because of the situation as a whole. And of course, the loving wife that I am, was steamed a lot of the time because I felt like he deserved much better treatment (and help) than he was receiving. I told him he should ask for a pay raise for the time that he was managing that branch but he said he wouldn't feel right asking. I was semi-ok with that. But then people were quitting and people were needing to take vacation all of a sudden and he was CRANKY a lot when he would come home. Well, lo and behold people took notice. Yesterday his regional manager came to his branch and gave him an envelope with $250 bucks and told him he gave him a letter of recommendation for his file. Also, the human resources lady gave him a thank you card and I'm sure that will go a long way in the HR department. So, BRAVO to Leo for being outstanding when facing stupidity and being able to deal with the pressure. I soon may be having to deal with the same situation in the upcoming future, so hopefully my future will be shining with dollars as well! :)

It's been awhile

So I have been sick this week along with the monkey but I also have not taken the time to write anything! And few things have happened this week that are interesting but here goes...

Tuesday night is dinner night at the folks. And let me tell you this one was one for the making! Everyone and their dog showed up. Ok, maybe no dogs came but it seemed like there were a lot of people there. My grandma and her husband, my other grandma and grandpa, my broseph and his girlfriend, their baby girl Chloe, my hubby and kid (me of course!), and my aunt were all there for dinner. Then another aunt, her daughter and her friend all came for cake for my grandpa's 80th birthday! It was crowded but I loved seeing everyone and not usually everyone is there at the same time so that was nice also.

The on Thursday we had a fraud party at work. I caught a counterfeit check about a month ago and our branch was rewarded with a party! It was nice because we got free food (I LOVE HOG WILD!) and also because we got to goof off from about 11 until 4. Now I worked until 8 so we still had work to do in the evening, but I have 2 complaints about the party. One is that there was our manager, her manager and the fraud manager at our branch the whole time. Why you may ask? I do not really know. Kinda awkward when we go into our back room and they're just chilling. I think it was as much of a break for them than it was for us! Also, as much as I loved not working for 5 hours after they left we still had to work. And work we did. It was obnoxious for the fact that I really don't like shoving what I would normally do in a 9 hour day in 3 hours. So not cool!

Ok, so that was the excitement for the week. I have to work all day tomorrow (10-6) and then Sunday I will be relaxing! Hopefully I will feel better by next week! It's gobble time!

Working for the weekend

So whoever wrote the song working for the weekend definitely didn't work retail! And some people like to complain, "Oh you have banker's hours." I just want to smack them. Because honestly bankers hours do not mean what they used to mean! I work in a branch that is in a Dillons grocery store and we are open 10a-8p Monday through Friday and 10a-6p on Saturdays. And we are also open on those goofy holidays like Veterans Day, Columbus Day, etc. So, of course this post relates to my life because I have to work tomorrow. So I am going to work all day from 10-6 and then come home, be a quick change artist and go to a Halloween party. Leo is being nice and staying home with the monkey and i am real excited! The party is at my friends house who I used to work with but since I changed locations we don't see each other near as often as we should and I am looking forward to a night out! I'll post some pictures after the weekend! Hope everyone else has a great weekend!

Rainy Tuesdays

So as I am sitting here deciding when I want to get up to get ready for work all I can hear is the pitter patter of rain. It makes it so hard to do anything. I don't like to get up to go to work on a daily basis (even though I really like my job) but the rain the last couple of days has made it a lot harder. It is days like today that really makes me wish I had a job like my mom's where she can call in on a whim. I know she has days that she absolutely can not call in and her job is pretty stressful sometimes as well, but I mean the easiness of calling in. No one to make her feel like she may not be sick enough to stay home or that the job is really dependent on her to where they may not function that day because she won't be there. Yeah, I hate that. I wish I could just crawl under my covers and pop in a good movie and just cat nap all day long with no worries. But alas I do not. I guess I should get up and go get ready. But Lord knows that I will not be doing my hair because it won't matter. The rain will mess it up anyways. Gotta love ponytails!

Scary Scenarios at Work

So I work at a bank and the company I work for is very saturated in the city I live in. Well today I received an email from an employee at a different location to a link to a local news site and apparently one of our branches was robbed. I don't have any particulars on the details but it just makes you think about the reality of working in a place that has money. Especially in the financial times that we are living in. Everyone needs money and apparently everyone is losing money. It really freaked me out and happened on the complete opposite side of town. I really wish people would take control of their own lives and not do so in a manner that so deeply will effect other people. People need to get a grip. I did work at a branch that got robbed (luckily I was not there) and apparently the dude just wanted to get more money to get another fix. Dude didn't even rob the bank for a legitimate (if there is ever a legitimate reason) reason. I hope this guy gets caught and put in jail for a very long time.
