Memoir Monday

This weekend flew by. I think I say that every weekend but seriously…they go by so fast!

The end of last week started with me starting to not feel good. Yuck. I don’t think so. So I have been sucking down cough drops and just trying to relax as much as I can. Friday I was going to go with my dad to pick my mom up from the airport but her flight was delayed to where she was supposed to get into town by 9 that evening to not even leaving her destination until 10. Yikes! So I just stayed home with my boys and made some chili dogs for dinner and we hung out.

Saturday we got up in the morning and we played a little Don’t Wake Daddy. The game. Not the real version where we’re quiet! Then we got ready and hit the town with my mom to do a little shopping and then go to lunch. Because Leo was with us we ended up eating at Wendy’s instead of someplace a little nicer. We’re waiting until he’s not with us so we can go to Noodles and Company. But we hit up World Market because I had a gift card. I got a carrying case for my 9X11 cake pan, a heart-shaped pancake/egg mold and 4 soufflĂ© dishes so I can make some individual pot pies. Yum! Then Saturday night we got some take out from Texas Roadhouse and went over to my sister-in-laws house to watch the Sunflower Showdown (AKA the KU vs. K-State game!). It was amazing because KU beat K-State by a lot!

Sunday we woke up and went to church. Then we came home and hung out most of the day. I ended up doing all of my laundry and putting it all away so that was nice but still an annoying task. I told the hubby I would clean the bathroom but I didn’t make it that far. The nap I took sounded better. I guess I will do that tonight!

I hope all of you had an awesome weekend!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Love is abound this week in What I'm Loving Wednesday. Go see Jamie to see other link-ups as well!

  • I love when I hear songs on the radio that I haven't heard in a REALLY long time and it takes me back to the time when I really loved it. A lot of good memories!
  • I love that Big 12 basketball is in full force. I'm a little sad (ok a lot sad) that KU lost last weekend but we got back on track last night in a win against Colorado. I also love the camaraderie that you can see in the team. When one of the players lost 2 grandparents and his mom in the last month they surrounded him and showed support by wearing a patch in honor of his mom. So sad.
  • I love that my baby boy is big enough to clean up his own messes. When he spilled a mini bag of chips today I made him clean it up himself. And boy was he mad! He did not want to do it but I think that he needs a little responsibility.
  • I love that my oven is FIXED. Hallelujah! I can turn it on and use it. AMAZING.
  • I love that my jury duty is over. One week was more than enough.
  • I love that my mom is coming home from a business trip on Friday. And that we're going to lunch on Saturday. I haven't hardly talked to her all week!

RTT: Farts, Jury Duty and Subway

Another week gone so it's time for random! Hit up Keely to see what other random is going
on in the blogosphere!

Convo with the hubby
Him: why are farts so stupid?
Me: ???
Him: I mean I know why we do it but why do they make such weird
noises? And they smell. I know it's methane gas and that's why you can
light them on fire..
Me:??!!

Another convo with hubby
Him: do you remember me waking you up last night?
Me: no.
Him: I farted really loud and it scared you and woke you up. I'm
surprised you don't remember because I couldn't stop laughing.

I should have prefaced those two conversations with the fact that we
had Mexican food last night. And I feel a little guilty with those
stories because I had just told the hubby that I don't normally write
about him. But not guilty enough to not publish them!

Leo has been writing in a notebook lately. He'll ask how to spell
something and we'll tell him and then he'll write it. Well last night
he was in our room writing and coloring in his notebook and hubby
asked him why he was so cute and Leo responded, "I don't know but I'm
smart too." That kid is ridiculous!

I've been a member of a jury since last Tuesday. It's been interesting
but it has really messed up my week. I was supposed to have last
Friday off because I had to work Saturday but since I was on jury
duty I had to go there on Friday and still work Saturday. Which means I
got none of my stuff done. So yesterday I had to do a lot of stuff. But
I definitely didn't do enough because the house still looks trashed. I
guess here's to this weekend. Oh and do you know what sucks terribly?
Having to sit on jury duty for an 8 hour day with cramps and bloating.
Especially when your friend was almost 2 weeks late. Ahhh sometimes
it makes you remember what a sense of humor the big guy has.

There has been a football picks contest going on since December for
the local paper that if you win you get a gift card to a local sports
bar. Well I have an aunt that works for the paper and told me to do it
so I have been. Well apparently I've been the only one participating on
a regular basis so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna win. Saweet!

I stopped at Subway this morning to get a sandwich for lunch. I got a
6 inch sub that the footlong is only $5 thinking that the six inch
would be $2.50 or $3. I also got chips and when I went to pay the guy
was $5.39. Incredulously I paid and when I got my receipt I looked and
the sandwich was $4. I should have gotten a footlong for just a dollar
more. Rip-off!
