Thoughts from a garage sale that hasn't even started yet...

Today I took all my stuff over to my brosef's house to set up for the garage sale. And while I was stressed because I thought I was going to take it on Tuesday I got it all done in about 3 hours. Not too shabby. But I took a look at some of what I was selling (mainly clothes) and had a few revelations...

1) It is so AWESOME to see how much weight I've lost by seeing all the clothes I'm selling. I honestly feel like that is the first time I've seen through my eyes the massive amount of weight I've shed. And it feels good.

2) As the past few years of garage sale-ing has gone I realized tonight how much better we've been about not buying as much stuff. Of course we still have bought plenty but it's nice to see that not every year we have the same amount. It keeps getting less and less. Again, it feels really good.

3) I love my brother and sister-in-law. I obviously knew this already but it is just nice to sit and chat with them. We don't do it enough but when we can it is nice.

And on that I'm going to hit the shower before I go to bed and get up in less than 8 hours to start the actual sale. ALSO--I've already made $50! My porch swing that my husband thought I was crazy to sell because this was the year (after we've had it 9) that he was going to start sitting on it. A neighbor of my brother's had been wanting one and ours was still in good condition so he bought it. For full price. I hope that is a good omen about how the rest of the sale is going to go!

RTT: Race recaps, Mice, Garage Sales

Who knew Mondays could go so fast when you're not working. Pretty much any day for that matter goes quickly when you have to go to work the next day! But here we are. It's Tuesday and time for another episode of RTT!

A few people asked how my race went a few weekends ago. And the answer to that is: I FINISHED! Woo hoo! I may not have been the fastest and the most graceful but dammit I finished! The Warrior Dash was in Kansas City 2 weekends ago and it was a 5k with obstacles. I finished that one in about an hour and 8 minutes. There was one obstacle that we had to wait for about 15 minutes on though. So if you subtract that from my time I did it in less than an hour. I'm ok with that time. Then the next weekend was the Color Me Rad here in Wichita. I did that one with my sister-in-law and bless her heart she waited for me at each color station so we could get bombed together. She is much quicker than I am and the temperature that day was about 40 degrees and rainy. Cold and wet do not go well with my asthma so I really appreciated the support from her. Here are a few of our pictures from each race

My SIL and I after the race. We were frozen to the bone.

Last Sunday (a week ago, not 2 days ago) I spent about 80% of my day cleaning our house. It was just one of those days and the house needed it. I felt like it hadn't been terribly dirty but was just messy. So I remedied that and as I was sitting down to finally relax after everyone else was in bed I saw a stupid mouse scurry right by where the boys keep some of their toys in the living room. I was so flipping annoyed. I couldn't believe it. I was so mad. So here we are a week later and no traps have been filled by the bodies of dead mice and I'm starting to wonder if the cleaning solutions hadn't diluted my mind. Ok, not really but still annoyed. Just go away mice! On the upside, no evidence of mice have been found either. So they are either really clean mice or they are just keeping their business to a minimum. I still do not want additional animals in my house. Out ya go!

The city-wide garage sale is this upcoming weekend and I am ready. Ok, not really. But I have most of my stuff ready to be tagged and hopefully bought by someone who needs it much more than I do. My brother and SIL have a sale every year and they are gracious enough to let me bring our junk awesome stuff  to be sold. The last few years I have felt like I had quite a few things to get rid of. This year, not so much. I am getting rid of a few baby related items but we are keeping the rest on a just in case basis. I'm hoping that basis is for if one of my really close friends gets knocked up but who knows. Anyways...off of that tangent! I'm selling a few bigger items but mostly clothes that don't fit me anymore...too big not too small! Woo hoo! So besides the fact that I'm getting 2 days of vacation this week I'm not expecting a huge profit. I'll low ball it but if I make $150 I'll be happy.

Mother's Day Weekend Recap

Whew. It's Monday. And I've been absent for some time recently. And I finally figured out why I go through some writer's block. I think it's when stuff is not always going well with our lives and when I read other people's blogs I see so much happy and good stuff going on. I obviously know that people's lives are not perfect and they mostly blog the good but when you feel like you will only be complaining then I am not keen on that. So I'm going to try to come in with a cup half full attitude and start up again.

This weekend was Mother's Day. Did you know that? I'm sure you didn't...if you lived under a rock. Because I'm pretty sure every. single. social media timeline of mine was blown up with mom pictures, posts, etc. And I'm ok with it! I love my mom. And I hope my boys love me. But here is what I spent my Mother's Day weekend doing.

We went to the park bright and early Sunday morning. After the hubs ran to McDonalds for breakfast. He said it was for me but I would have been fine with some bacon. He said it was so I didn't have to make and clean up anything. I'll take it!

And Saturday night I took my mom and aunt/god-mother to a show at one of the local theatres in town to see All Ways A Woman. It is an updated version of Menopausapalooza and it was hilarious. We were laughing out loud. My mom was wiping away tears she was laughing so hard. We also went with a few of my old work friends. All in all it was a pretty fabulous evening.

Other memorable moments of our weekend:
Jacoby got sent home from daycare Friday night with a fever of 101.9. He was acting normal and so we didn't think too much of it. Got him to bed early and let him be. Saturday morning, he was acting a little cranky and was running a slight temperature. Laid him down for a nap and 4 hours later (!) we got him up. Leo went in the room and he said he reeked. I went in expecting a dirty diaper but he had thrown up. Then before I left to go out I got thrown up on and right before I was getting ready to leave the hubs got thrown up on. He wasn't able/willing to get to the bathroom before Jacoby got it everywhere so I was left to clean up puke in my dress and heels. Then Sunday he woke up acting normal, we all went to the park, he played, napped and then that evening he started having some really severe diapers. This morning I gave him something to drink to see if he would go again and be decided if I would stay home with him or take him and of course he went. So here I am at home. He is acting fine otherwise, no fever, eating normally, drinking normally. Except every time he eats anything he has a nasty diaper. I'm on vacation to have a garage sale Thursday and Friday so I'm hoping this passes.
