Where do my weeks go?

So as I am sitting here it is Wednesday, October 29th. And I am trying to figure out where my week has gone, where my year has gone and where my life has gone. My week of course has gone to work! My year has gone to my son, all the giggles and the kisses and the hugs! Along with my spouse (who if he read this he might gag!) and to my job. My job is going well. I really like the position I am in. I really enjoy the people I work with *including my boss (surprisingly to many!)* and things seem to be going in the right direction. And my life has gone to who knows where! I am going to be a quarter of a century in 8 months. I don't know how that happened! I know I'm a dork and I am NOT old but a quarter of a century just sounds ridiculously old! So in the next 8 months I would really like to map out my future. I want to figure out some things that I would like to accomplish before I turn 25 and things I would definitely like to accomplish by the time I hit half a century! I will keep you posted on what I come up with and my plan on how to get there. My first goal is to spend more *active* time with my son and my spouse. And not just sitting on the couch watching TV with them. Doing something that we can enjoy each others company! I'll let you know how it goes!

Swapping Lives

I just got finished reading the book "Swapping Lives" by Jane Green and it was amazing. The theme was a single gal swapping lives with a married gal to see if the grass was greener on the other side. So, the theme was just what I have been feeling in my life lately. I love being married and having a sweet little baby boy (who by the way when I woke up this morning and I saw him, he waved at me and then gave my hand a kiss like a true gentleman!) but sometimes it would be fun *I THINK* to go back to being single for like a minute! Especially since my friend may be moving to a bustling city and it really makes me want to visit her when she moves and relish the BIG CITY LIFE! But every time I think about it, I think "Kendra, do you really think you could handle going to the bars and staying up until who knows when and leave the fam behind?" So after reading the book both the single and married gals wanted to go back to their lives and I'm sure I would feel the same way. But that doesn't mean that I don't want to take a mini-vacay to visit my friend! This girl can still party with the best of them!

Working for the weekend

So whoever wrote the song working for the weekend definitely didn't work retail! And some people like to complain, "Oh you have banker's hours." I just want to smack them. Because honestly bankers hours do not mean what they used to mean! I work in a branch that is in a Dillons grocery store and we are open 10a-8p Monday through Friday and 10a-6p on Saturdays. And we are also open on those goofy holidays like Veterans Day, Columbus Day, etc. So, of course this post relates to my life because I have to work tomorrow. So I am going to work all day from 10-6 and then come home, be a quick change artist and go to a Halloween party. Leo is being nice and staying home with the monkey and i am real excited! The party is at my friends house who I used to work with but since I changed locations we don't see each other near as often as we should and I am looking forward to a night out! I'll post some pictures after the weekend! Hope everyone else has a great weekend!

Small victories

So I know I haven't posted in a while and this one is going to be quick, but we have had a small victory in the Fernandez household. Leo has slept in his own bed for 5 nights in a row! That is ever so exciting since he will be 20 months old tomorrow (I can't freaking believe it!). Anywho...he will go through (short) phases where he will sleep in his own bed and I will be in heaven, but the last time he did that he got sick with the rotovirus and then got chicken pox a month later and boy was sleeping in his own bed screwed up after that! So, we went to KC for the weekend and Leo stayed with my folks and he sleeps in his own bed there and so we made him sleep in his own bed every night since then. So I am thrilled to have 1/2 of the bed to myself! And now the next big thing to break him of is his bottle. Any suggestions would be fabulous!

Rainy Tuesdays

So as I am sitting here deciding when I want to get up to get ready for work all I can hear is the pitter patter of rain. It makes it so hard to do anything. I don't like to get up to go to work on a daily basis (even though I really like my job) but the rain the last couple of days has made it a lot harder. It is days like today that really makes me wish I had a job like my mom's where she can call in on a whim. I know she has days that she absolutely can not call in and her job is pretty stressful sometimes as well, but I mean the easiness of calling in. No one to make her feel like she may not be sick enough to stay home or that the job is really dependent on her to where they may not function that day because she won't be there. Yeah, I hate that. I wish I could just crawl under my covers and pop in a good movie and just cat nap all day long with no worries. But alas I do not. I guess I should get up and go get ready. But Lord knows that I will not be doing my hair because it won't matter. The rain will mess it up anyways. Gotta love ponytails!

Are you sure you want to know!

CC from Fork in the Road tagged me and now I am supposed to share 7 weird facts about myself. Some of these may not be weird to all but they are weird to some! I don't know if you really want to know these things but here goes!

1.) I am not a good swimmer. I failed swim lessons when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. I love to swim in a pool and I know that if I needed to swim to save my life or someone else I could but it might take me a little longer. I can doggy paddle and I do love to float on my back but a good swimmer I am not!

2.) I LOVE to go camping but I don't really like to be outside. An oxy-moron I know but it is true. I think the reason I love camping is because I used to go camping with my friends and we always had such a good time. And who doesn't like a good bloody mary at 9 in the morning. Really, tell me someone and I'll tell you you're crazy! :)

3.) I don't really like animals. At all. I have a dog and I like her but other peoples pets, yeah, not really a big fan.

4.) Kinda along the lines of #3, but I HATE birds. It doesn't matter what kind. I hate them all. I watched Hitchcock's "The Birds" and I really hated birds after that.

5.) I love watching sports. In person, on TV it doesn't matter. But they have to be cool sports like football, baseball and basketball. I can watch golf and tennis sometimes but mostly the 3 mentioned above. Also, along those lines I also love to watch SportsCenter. More than my husband. And mostly when I am going to bed. He gets annoyed because he will always wake up at the same point every hour when it repeats, but that doesn't bother me!

6.) I love to watch movies. And not just popular movies, but all different kinds of movies. Historical movies, Horror Movies, Action-Adventure, Chick Flicks, Independent Films. And I can quote a lot of them too. Most of them are the ones that I have watched repeatedly but I can hear a line from a movie and remember it.

And finally,
7.) I pick up on other people's speaking crazies. I work with a girl that always goes, "I know, huh." and I have picked that up. I don't know what it is...maybe it is because I am around the same people all the time at work and home so I will pick up on it to emulate them to make them feel more comfortable. Or maybe it is because I am self-concious so I want to fit in with them. either way...kinda weird!

weekends

So another great weekend. We spent time with the extended family at a huge birthday blow-out for 4 people. I will say I LOVE smoked meats! My uncles make the best pork and brisket and I ate way too much! Pretty much ruined my diet for the whole weekend!

And speaking of diets...we started a "Fit 4 Fall" program at the bank that if you exercise 4 days a week and eat 4 servings of fruits and/or veggies a day you get a prize. We don't know what the prize is but let me tell you...4 fruits and veggies a day is TOUGH. Especially when you go from maybe 1 to 4, you have a whole different outlook on your menus. Especially for a prize that you don't even know what it is. Nothing like a little unknown motivation!

And one other thing...another Dillon's bank location got robbed today. Let me tell you...PEOPLE...QUIT ROBBING BANKS! I just want to throw that out there because I don't like being nervous at my place of business. So not cool!

Every parents worst nightmare

So Saturday I spent a good day with my monkey and my mom. We went to Cowtown (a museum replicating life in the old days) because it was free museum day courtesy of the Smithsonian (I guess) and then we went to visit my great-grandma who is 95 and just got released from a hospital rehab center. So after all of our gallavanting around my mom took me home and we were just relaxing watching some college football. Little man took a nap and when he woke up around 6 he sounded terrible. He was wheezing and having trouble breathing. Now I am an asthma baby but I don't know what to look for when a kid is obviously having trouble breathing I just know what asthma feels like. And he is only 19 months old so it's not like he could tell me what was going on. So I call my mom and make her come over (by now it is like 8:30) and see if we should take him to the ER. Well she thinks we should at least call our on-call doctor so I do. 30 minutes later he calls back and tells me that he can't decide whether we need to take him in or not because he's not here (really dummy?). So we then decide to take him to the ER for a breathing treatment. We got in very quickly and there weren't any crazies waiting in the lobby and the monkey really enjoyed the breathing treatment machine because the lady let him push the button to release the medicine. So everything turned out ok, but it is very scary and frustrating because I don't want my kid to be sick like I was when I was little. I pretty much grew out of my asthma with a few episodes here and there but it is a pain in the butt to deal with. WHat with having to get shots and blood drawn and all the allergy tests because usually asthma comes with allergies. All a pain! But he will be fine and I guess that is what is important!
