Lots of things to love

I'm playing What I Love Wednesdays over with Jamie so you should link up and let everyone know what you are loving!

  • I'm loving that I have gone and worked out 3 times this week! Woo hoo! And I am off Friday so that should make 4 days in one week. Look at me go! Bikini season is right around the corner...haha. Yeah right! One piece season is right around the corner!
  • I'm loving that it is supposed to be 80 degrees on Sunday! That will be a nice change from the frigid temperatures we've been seeing this week!
  • I'm loving that I have Friday off. Not only because I will go workout but I will be able to (hopefully) get a few things done around the house!
  • I'm loving that Leo is able to play some video games without adult interaction. I usually sit with him and while he plays but I don't have to help him figure out which buttons to push and what not. My little baby is growing up.
  • I'm loving that we get to go to the hubby's hometown next weekend. His sister is having a baby shower and I am helping host it so we will be heading down Friday night. It will be nice because we haven't seen his family since Christmas because of the swine flu that hit our house around Leo's birthday. So that will be very exciting!
Ok that is all I can think of right now. Run over and link up so you can be in love too!

Did we really just say that

Only because I’m all hopped up on allergy/sinus medicine I will leave you with a few of the sights and sounds of my workplace… On the way back from the public restroom I walked by a gentleman who was checking out of the grocery store (my bank has a branch in a grocery store). In his cart were 10 boxes of fish sticks, 2 cases of Dr. Pepper and a gallon of milk. Wow. I hope when the apocalypse comes his microwave or stove still works or else he’s not going to be able to eat all those fish sticks. We have been talking about trust at work and so one of my co-workers googled trust sayings/quotes and one came up saying people who lacked trust would ID Jesus. We laughed and said that would be us since we work at a bank. Us: Sir I’m going to need some ID if you want to cash that check. Jesus: But I’m Jesus of Nazarene Us: I don’t know you from Jack. I’m going to need your IDJesus: But I knew you before you were you. Us: Well let’s see if you can perform a miracle… While talking about the possible NFL lockout another co-worker and I were talking about why we thought the whole thing was ridiculous. He said that athletes were technically over-paid clowns. I looked at him quizzically and he said that since all they are are entertainers they could just as easily have been clowns. I died laughing. I had never really thought about it like that! And finally…after ANOTHER Japanese nuclear plant started having problems we were talking about the potential problems America could have if some of our plants were hit by a tsunami/earthquake combo. Out of the blue I decided that America would be fine because we have Chuck Norris on our side. All we would have to do is send him in and he would give a good roundhouse kick to the plant and put it in its place. Haha. We have waaaaay too much time on our hands to be having these conversations!

Random Thoughts From 4 in the morning

randomtuesday

It's Tuesday again which means I can empty my brain with Keely and
all the other randomizers! And that's a good thing because it's
3:50am and I can't sleep.

I went to bed last night around 10:30 and was woke up by my darling
son around 1. I've been a good girl and instead of just letting him
crawl in bed I've been taking him back to his room. So I did that
and now look what happened...I can't go back to sleep.

I got my postcard from Captain Dumbass this past weekend and I was so
excited. I love getting non-bill mail! I showed the hubby and he
looked like I was crazy that some random blogger was sending me a
postcard. So I had to remind him about how he helped me pick out a
postcard to send to him to begin with. He finally remembered but I
should have just told him I was pen-pals with an inmate. He probably
would have thought it was cooler!

We had the windows open and the fans running because spring decided to
show it's pretty little face. Well now every night and morning for the
last few days I've been listening to Leo bark/cough. It sounds terrible.

I have decided to tackle spring cleaning in bouts. I'm going to give
myself one week and then every day tackle one item from my list. I
will begin the list on Friday!

Yay! KU made it to the sweet sixteen! They will be playing Friday
night so I have to make sure my chores are done by then!

Also... I tweeted a lot this weekend and lost some followers.
Apparently they were not digging all my Rock Chalks. But if they can't
handle it then they shouldn't be following me anyways!

The hubby just woke up and asked why I wasn't sleeping. I told him I
couldn't and he asked why I wasn't even trying. Gee... You think I
haven't tried at all in the past 3 hours? Pretty sure I'm using my
phone to type a blog as a last resort. Especially when I have to work
a 10 hour day. If I had a choice I would definitely choose sleep!

I went to the store on Sunday and while it was so ridiculously crowded
I was able to get all my shopping done. That included some pre-cooked
bacon so in the mornings all I have to do is pop it in the microwave
for 20 seconds and Leo has a better breakfast than just cereal or pop-
tarts. So I bought some more expensive ones thinking it had more bacon
in it. I went to go put it in the microwave yesterday morning and lo
and behold it was not pre-cooked. Which meant that I had raw bacon
just chilling for almost 24 hours on the counter. Amazing. So I had to
throw it away and deal with a tearful child and explain that there
would he no bacon. All the while cursing under my breath for wasting
$6. I'm more mad that they had that bacon with the pre-cooked bacon.
It was just too confusing.

Ok welp I better quit now and try to get a little sleep. If I go to
sleep now I can get 3 hours of sleep. That would be pretty awesome
right?! Well go visit Keely and see what random is being spewed across
the globe!

Final Days

Man my vacation just went by waaaay too fast! I can't believe it is already Sunday and I won't get another 4 day weekend until Memorial Day weekend. That's 2 months away! I don't know if I'll be able to make it!

But yesterday and today I have done something fun both days so I at least got some fun in my weekend! Saturday evening I took Leo and myself to my friends birthday party. He was turning 41 and him and his wife have 2 kids ages 11 and 5 so it was kid friendly. I got there around 6 and stayed until about 9. And the only reason we left was because I wouldn't let Leo play outside in the dark with the big kids anymore so he was ready to go. But I'm really glad I put my foot down because when we left they were playing in the streets. Not that I think the older one would have purposely let anything happen to Leo but earlier they had been playing in the backyard and he had been left outside by himself because the big kids came inside. Poor little guy was just playing by himself when I went out to see why he hadn't followed everyone inside!

Then today I had plans to meet up with my friend who moved away last year for lunch. We hit up On the Border and then after lunch we went to the mall. It was so much fun and makes me miss her even more! Then I came home and went grocery shopping. I went to Wal-Mart because I needed to pick up a few non-grocery items and let me tell you...it was a BIG mistake. They were packed but that wasn't the terrible part. It was the fact that they oly had 4 lanes open that were non-Express lanes. And 2 of the 4 lanes that I looked at there were people with 2 carts a piece. Who buys that many groceries at 1 time? I couldn't even imagine what their bills were like! The good news was that I bought all my groceries to make dinner plus I got a lot of breakfast foods because I felt terrible that I ran out of almost everything this week and Leo kept asking for stuff we didn't have so I stocked up big time!

I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Vacation Day 2: Quite Stressful

So I was not expecting any days of my vacation to be stressful. But it seemed like yesterday was just not my day. Nothing horrible happened and actually a few things turned out quite well but I think I was just having a bad day and so everything was exacerbated by that. On the upside I did get 2 pairs of jeans and 2 tops from a local store for $14 thanks to Groupon. We also went to Bonefish Grill for dinner last night for my brother's birthday. It was better than I expected. I ate a steak because I am not a fish person and I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans with them and they were both really good too. And finally...the best part of the day was the hubby got the job!!!! And even though they said it wouldn't be a substantial pay raise they gave him almost what he asked for and he also gets to keep all the same benefits he had before because he is only moving from one of the branches to a downtown position! So that was definitely the best part of the day!

So I guess after reading this the day was not bad...just not what I was expecting! Here's hoping I have a better attitude these last 2 days of vacation!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and happy first day of vacation to me! All things needed done today were done! I got the oil changed and the recall fixed on hubby's car. I worked out at the Y (and felt like an idiot because I was a first-timer!). We got Leo from school and picked up pizza on the way home. And now I am off to watch more of the NCAA tournament while my boys watch the 4 hour live showing of Destination Truth LIVE from Ireland. Woo hoo! I hope you all had an awesome day and wore green so you didn't get pinched. Leo sure did!

Lent

This is week 2 of Lent. Well I'm not really sure how they classify the weeks since last Sunday was the first Sunday of Lent but whatever. I'm saying week 2. Last Wednesday was Ash Wednesday and while I was so ridiculously tired that I didn't feel like I could sit with my 4 year old through mass at 7 I still decided to give something up for Lent. Like I do every year. Last year I gave up fast food. That, my friends, was a giant fail. This year I figured I would do something practical for myself. I want to keep tabs on my health and I feel like I have been eating a stupid amount of foods that are bad for me so I figured easy choice. I would give up sweets for Lent. And by sweets I mean cookies, cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, candy, pie. Other stuff like that. What I don't count is cereal. So do you know what has been taunting me? My girl scout cookies. Sure enough I couldn't eat them all fast enough. So I have to freeze them. I also bought some no-bake cookies the week before Lent and I couldn't even finish them in time so I had to pitch the last 2. It was a sad day. So in the last week I have only had 1 fail and that was on Ash Wednesday when I got Leo a twizzler and I bit off the end. Then I realized...aww crap. I wasn't supposed to eat that. Other than that though I have been awesome. If I keep this up I might have a weight loss. Woo hoo!

Wednesday Love

Yay! It's Wednesday which this week is my Friday! Woo hoo! Go visit Jamie to see what other people are loving.

This week I am loving...

--->That the weather is so nice. My boys can go outside and play all they want. But it does mean that daily baths are going to start early!

--->That I got Carlos O'Kellys for lunch today. One of the other girls was hungry and I put a little bug in her ear for some queso and she obliged. It was delicious. I even have leftovers so I get it for dinner too!

--->March Madness is here! Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Let's see what we're made of this year!

--->That Obama picked KU to win the national championship! Not that it matters but I like that we have the commander in chief rooting for us as well!

--->That we got a membership to the YMCA. Tomorrow will be my first day to use it but I'm going to.

--->That I am on vacation! Woo hoo! No more work until Monday. And thank goodness because right as I was leaving we got an email about re-organization for some people and I didn't even want to think about it. I called my boss and told her if anything crazy happened to fill me in with a brief phone call. My feelings are...there is nothing I can do about it and if anything happens it is going to happen whether I am thinking about it or not. So I guess it's all in Gods hands now.

Memoir Monday: Sunday Funday

Happy Monday everyone! My weekend has gone as fast as always and I can't believe it's already Monday. Luckily I have a short week because I'm taking off Thursday and Friday for the NCAA basketball tournament so I'm only working Monday-Wednesday! So excited for my 4 day weekend!

Saturday I worked all day so once I got home we ate dinner and then watched the KU/Texas Big 12 Championship game. It was an awesome game. And KU came out the victor so my night ended on a good note. Leo had spent Friday night with my parents and they wore him out royally and he did not have a nap Saturday so he passed out watching the game with us around 7:30. I moved him to his room and he didn't wake up until I woke him up to go to church Sunday morning at 8! It was awesome!

Sunday we got up and went to church and then went to breakfast after. Then we came home and rested up before heading out to the arena to watch the local Hockey team. It was a good game where the Thunder won and I got delicious chips and queso from a local restaurant that sells their food at the arena. It was awesome! Then we came home and I did Leo's laundry and then it was time to hit the hay because we have to get up to start our week early!

I hope everyone else had an awesome weekend!

Recap of Life

So I’ve been MIA for awhile. 9 days to be more accurate. And it’s been noted. By me. By others. And I know. I need to be better. But I just haven’t found it in me the last week and a half. I’ve been very moody (ask my husband), very tired (ask my child) and very un-energized (ask my exercise instructor who missed me the past 2 classes). And it sucks. I hate when I get in these funks. But there is good news on the horizon. I hope. No I know.

A few updates in what has happened in our household:

We got free tickets to see the local hockey team Sunday. I am so stoked about it. The hubby and Leo went to a game in November and ever since then Leo has asked if I would go to a game with him. The hubby called me yesterday on lunch to say that one of his customers came in and offered him (or anyone else) wanted tickets to Friday or Sunday’s game along with a parking pass. So we chose the Sunday game and I am so excited!

The hubby had a job interview on Thursday for a position within the company that he works for but at the downtown location. He currently works in a bank branch and the position he applied for is not a “retail” position. He would be working Monday-Friday either 7-4 or 8-5 as opposed to working anywhere between 7a-8p M-F and 8a-6p Saturdays. So that would be very refreshing for him and for our family. It is a slight pay increase but I don’t think it would be anything to write home about. But…any pay increase is a pay increase so we would be thankful for that as well. He should hear back by next Monday (the 21st) so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I would like all of you to think happy thoughts and send them our way!

My parents watched Leo last night and so the hubby and I had a night to ourselves. Cue the sexy music. Oh wait…yeah, that didn’t happen. We were watching the KU vs. Colorado game and ordered in Applebees. And yes we ate it in bed. And it was amazing. And then we were asleep by 9. We were exhausted! We had a message Saturday morning and it had been left at 9:30 Friday night. How ridiculous is that? We were out cold we didn’t even hear the phone ring! Obviously we were in need of some shut-eye!

So there is a lot that has been going on and when thinking about it this summer will thankfully not be as busy as last summer but with Leo getting older and wanting to be outside 24/7 I’m sure that we will be out playing with him as much as we can. And as much as the heat and mosquitoes will allow!

Oh those silly meeces

I was sitting here just reading some blog posts when BAM my morning changed for the worse. I saw a mouse. And not just any mouse. A mouse that ran from the corner where Leo's outside toys sit to where Freckles food bowl sits. Ugh. Ridiculous. Aren't you supposed to see (uh...I mean aren't you not supposed to see mice at all but if you do...) them in the winter? Not when the weather turns nice? We had gone like 2 years without mice. We have a really old house so there is a lot of ways they can get in but I thought we had rid the house for good. Apparently not. The good thing about this scenario? I just sat here and went ewwwww when I saw it. I didn't jump. I didn't scream. Either I'm becoming a big girl or else I'm just not grossed out as easily anymore.

P.S.--Tressa and Amy---I blame you. We hadn't seen a mice in ages and then you both post about it on facebook and BAM. Mice. Thanks a freaking lot!

Random Love

Hooray! It's Wednesday! Only 4 more days until my weekend! (I have to work Saturday so yeah). Link up with Jamie to see what everyone else is loving this week.

I am loving my new shoes I got. So cute! I'm trying to decide if I just want to use them as indoor shoes only and use my old ones to still walk outside when I go for walks. Something to think about!

I am loving that the schedule for the March-May schedule came out for the gym and they have a strictly cycling class in the mornings on the days I can go. So yay! I get to take my spin class!

I am loving that I have been able to blog more. Some weeks I just don't feel like I have enough time or ideas but lately I've felt like a blogging machine!

I am loving that Leo is healthy again. He still has a little bit of a cough but his anti-viral meds are done and that makes me happy!

I am loving that Texas lost to K-State on Monday. It is one of the only times that I will root for K-State but...that means that KU is now in sole possession of first place in the Big 12! Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Now that they control their own destiny I hope that they can keep up and win their last 2 games of the season. It'll be a tough week but I think they can do it! F.O.E.!

I am loving that it is March. Only 3 more months until my birthday! And then comes pool season! I'm definitely looking forward to the warmer weather coming our way.

I am loving all the crazy coming from Charlie Sheen. What I'm not loving is all the publicity it is garnering. (Yes...I know I am now doing what I said I don't love but...) Dude is freaking hilarious. Apparently he tested clean but he is spouting some CrAzY. The things he is saying is so funny. I don't think his behavior is probably the best when you have 4 children that are depending on your income but seriously. He's ridiculous!

RTT: Monday lunch dates and awesome exercise classes

randomtuesday

Hooray! It's Tuesday. This is also my 400th post! Woo hoo! Who would have thought that I would be doing this 399 times later!

Me and the hubby went on a Monday mid-day date. It was awesome! We went to Emperor's which is a fast-food(ish) hibachi place. We also hit up the Sports Authority where we got Leo's birthday present of 2 golf clubs and a golf bag. They're miniature sized for little kids. It is so freaking cute! And while there I got a new pair of tennis shoes. They are AWESOME! They are black with hot pink Nike signs on them. And they were on clearance. So I got a sweet pair of tennies for $55!
image here.

After we went there we hit up Target and got Elmos A to Zoo wii game so Leo could have a learning game for the Wii. I don't feel so bad when he plays video games if he's doing something smart!

While leaving one of the many places we left yesterday we were driving through the parking lot and saw someone getting ready to pull out into the intersection. And before they pulled out they opened their door and threw out a McDonalds cup. I was livid. I couldn't believe someone could be so horrible. I am not an avid "green" person but I do care about littering. I will even stop to pick up trash if I see it on the ground. I think it is ridiculous that most places have a trash can at the entrance of their buildings but people are so lazy that they throw trash on the ground. Ok...I'll get off my soapbox now!

I went to my workout class this morning and our instructor told us to get a Bosu ball. And I was pretty freaking nervous. So I kept my step out as well in case I couldn't get the hang of the ball. But you know something? I totally rocked it. I thought it was awesome. Ok...so most things are awesome in my book but I seriously enjoyed working out on it. I could even stay pretty stable balancing on one leg and doing the jumps like we were instructed. I was pretty proud of myself! It kind of makes me want to go get one! The hubby would probably kill me as I put it with my other weights and yoga mats and etc. etc. etc.! --Edited to add...I went to the Target website and those Bosu balls are $99. So yeah...won't be getting one of those anytime soon!--

My current exercise class ends next Friday the 11th. I want to take a spin class but the classes that are on Tuesday/Thursday morning when I am most available are Cycle Circuit classes which include spin and circuit training (ie: running) and I am not down with the running. So I think I am going to take a water aerobics class. And as much as I look forward to the class I have a feeling I will be the youngest in the class by at least 3 decades. The people in the locker room that I see coming from the pool in the morning are quite geriatric. So I hope that the class would give me as good of a workout as the older folks.

I was working on Leo's laundry tonight. He usually has 1 load per week. So I went to do the load for the week and he and the hubby went outside to play in the backyard. I look out there to see what the boys were up to and Leo comes running up to the door to show me his jeans. They are covered in mud. He apparently decided he needed to slide while playing baseball and got mud all over them. Oh well. What are you going to do? I'm just glad he can play outside!

Ok. That's all I got. Head over to Keely's to see what other random is out there.
