Another one bites the dust

So, another weekend has come and gone. I know I am probably being over-dramatic, but it seems like weekends go by so quickly. And it doesn't help that I had to work all day Saturday. But I was off Wednesday and Thursday and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday was all spent with family and one close friend so it was a wonderful weekend. Thanksgiving was wonderful. I ate to much food and sat on my butt for way to long but isn't that what the holidays are all about! ;)

I got up REALLY early Friday morning (read: 5 AM) and went to Kohls and Target. But I got pretty much all the shopping done for Leo's nieces and I think all we are going to get for the monkey. It was very worth it. Although after shopping from 5:30-7 and then working from 7:30-6:15, I passed the F out pretty quickly Friday evening over at Leo's sisters house. And then after working all day Saturday I again passed out at his sisters house. I can't help it that I am always sleepy! And then on Wednesday the 10th I am going shopping with my mom and grandma (a yearly tradition that I adore!) and I am hoping that we get our Christmas bonus from work or else Christmas will be a little sparser than usual. But that is ok, because that is not what the holidays are about! At least we will get to be with our family and friends! I hope everyone's holiday was fantastic! Have a great week!

Bravo

So as some of you know my dear husband and I both work in a bank. He was "chosen" to manage a branch while the real manager was on maternity leave. It was ridiculous at times because of the stupidity of the employees and because of the situation as a whole. And of course, the loving wife that I am, was steamed a lot of the time because I felt like he deserved much better treatment (and help) than he was receiving. I told him he should ask for a pay raise for the time that he was managing that branch but he said he wouldn't feel right asking. I was semi-ok with that. But then people were quitting and people were needing to take vacation all of a sudden and he was CRANKY a lot when he would come home. Well, lo and behold people took notice. Yesterday his regional manager came to his branch and gave him an envelope with $250 bucks and told him he gave him a letter of recommendation for his file. Also, the human resources lady gave him a thank you card and I'm sure that will go a long way in the HR department. So, BRAVO to Leo for being outstanding when facing stupidity and being able to deal with the pressure. I soon may be having to deal with the same situation in the upcoming future, so hopefully my future will be shining with dollars as well! :)

I was tagged by Brooke at Yada, Yada, Yada.... and even though I have done this once I will do it again for good sport (I am just copying what I had from before so bear with me if you have already read it!)

1.) I am not a good swimmer. I failed swim lessons when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. I love to swim in a pool and I know that if I needed to swim to save my life or someone else I could but it might take me a little longer. I can doggy paddle and I do love to float on my back but a good swimmer I am not!

2.) I LOVE to go camping but I don't really like to be outside. An oxy-moron I know but it is true. I think the reason I love camping is because I used to go camping with my friends and we always had such a good time. And who doesn't like a good bloody mary at 9 in the morning. Really, tell me someone and I'll tell you you're crazy! :)

3.) I don't really like animals. At all. I have a dog and I like her but other peoples pets, yeah, not really a big fan.

4.) Kinda along the lines of #3, but I HATE birds. It doesn't matter what kind. I hate them all. I watched Hitchcock's "The Birds" and I really hated birds after that.

5.) I love watching sports. In person, on TV it doesn't matter. But they have to be cool sports like football, baseball and basketball. I can watch golf and tennis sometimes but mostly the 3 mentioned above. Also, along those lines I also love to watch SportsCenter. More than my husband. And mostly when I am going to bed. He gets annoyed because he will always wake up at the same point every hour when it repeats, but that doesn't bother me!

6.) I love to watch movies. And not just popular movies, but all different kinds of movies. Historical movies, Horror Movies, Action-Adventure, Chick Flicks, Independent Films. And I can quote a lot of them too. Most of them are the ones that I have watched repeatedly but I can hear a line from a movie and remember it.And finally,

7.) I pick up on other people's speaking crazies. I work with a girl that always goes, "I know, huh." and I have picked that up. I don't know what it is...maybe it is because I am around the same people all the time at work and home so I will pick up on it to emulate them to make them feel more comfortable. Or maybe it is because I am self-concious so I want to fit in with them. either way...kinda weird!

Yeah, I know you are supposed to do 8, but I am still getting to know blogging friends so this is what I got! :)

Life happens

So, do you ever have those days when life is coming at you so fast that there is no time to stop and think? Well today was NOT one of those days! I had too much time to think! We are having a mouse problem in our house. We have caught 5 mice in one week. That constitutes a major problem in my eyes, but whatever. Anywho...we went to bed early (like 9) tonight because Leo has to be at work at 6:30 and I just like to go to sleep. Only tonight I could not sleep. I have been sitting up for over an hour so I decided to come and type my feelings!

We were watching Scrubs (an awesome tv show. For those of you that have not seen it I suggest you rent or buy all seasons and just watch! Amazing!) and everyone on the show has or are having babies. And it made me think. I definitely want another kid. Just one, and not right now, but I do want more. And I know Leo does (even though he may not say it I can tell he does!) but again, not now. But at this juncture in our lives I don't know that we would be able to afford another one. I'm not saying monetarily because no one really ever has enough money for kids unless you are rich. But I mean, I don't feel like I could have another kid in the house we are living in. It is a 3 bedroom house with one bathroom. And the fact that we spend money like it is going out of style and have to many bills to name (even though I could since I pay the bills! :)) plus student loans on top of that it makes it really difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

And maybe it was because when I was growing up I had everything I could possibly want plus some if you ask my parents I'm sure. And right now little man gets pretty much everything he wants (plus more, because we totally got him a ball pit because he loves the one at my parents house). Or maybe it is because I see all these people I know that are doing great things like building houses or buying new houses, cars and having babies. What are these people doing that we aren't. And then there are the people who struggle to have kids and can't but could afford everything and anything that they want. I guess I just need to do what I told Leo this morning and instead of wishing for what we want we need to do something about it. I just don't know exactly what that is.

It's been awhile

So I have been sick this week along with the monkey but I also have not taken the time to write anything! And few things have happened this week that are interesting but here goes...

Tuesday night is dinner night at the folks. And let me tell you this one was one for the making! Everyone and their dog showed up. Ok, maybe no dogs came but it seemed like there were a lot of people there. My grandma and her husband, my other grandma and grandpa, my broseph and his girlfriend, their baby girl Chloe, my hubby and kid (me of course!), and my aunt were all there for dinner. Then another aunt, her daughter and her friend all came for cake for my grandpa's 80th birthday! It was crowded but I loved seeing everyone and not usually everyone is there at the same time so that was nice also.

The on Thursday we had a fraud party at work. I caught a counterfeit check about a month ago and our branch was rewarded with a party! It was nice because we got free food (I LOVE HOG WILD!) and also because we got to goof off from about 11 until 4. Now I worked until 8 so we still had work to do in the evening, but I have 2 complaints about the party. One is that there was our manager, her manager and the fraud manager at our branch the whole time. Why you may ask? I do not really know. Kinda awkward when we go into our back room and they're just chilling. I think it was as much of a break for them than it was for us! Also, as much as I loved not working for 5 hours after they left we still had to work. And work we did. It was obnoxious for the fact that I really don't like shoving what I would normally do in a 9 hour day in 3 hours. So not cool!

Ok, so that was the excitement for the week. I have to work all day tomorrow (10-6) and then Sunday I will be relaxing! Hopefully I will feel better by next week! It's gobble time!

another weekend gone

So another weekend has come and gone. This weekend was a little different in that we went to Dodge City to visit family and enjoy a nice wedding. Well of course with an almost 2-year-old things don't always go as planned. We got to the wedding and probably 15 minutes into it Leo started to act up. And then came the reception. A time that I figured he would enjoy with the food and dancing. Obviously I didn't have a clue. He was ready to go right then. I don't know if it was the amount of people or just the fact that he was ready to go but he got mean. I have a scratch on my arm to prove it and he bit Leonard. Tis life!

So we decided to go back to Leonard's parents house and we took his almost 4-year-old niece with us because she was ready also. We go home, eat and then sit down to watch some TV. Well apparently Leo is a bully and Jocelynn is his favorite target. All night and then today he picked on her. I don't know what it is about her but he really enjoyed beating her up. And then we feel bad because our kid is the mean kid.

Then today we watched a little football (I watched my eye lids because I was tired!) and then we left for home about 4. And ridiculously enough it took us 3 hours to get home. So stupid. And we don't really know why. It sure didn't take us that long to get there. I think God threw in a few extra miles to give us some more quality time together! :)

I'll post a picture of the girls and little man for you to see the cousins. They are all so cute! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Great weekend

So this weekend was fantastic. Actually lately has been fantastic. Me and my esposo have been getting along great. Other than the little monkey being a little terror 50% of the time, the other 50% of the time he is a little angel! ;) On Friday the Leo's and I went to the Dodge City vs. someone football game. It was freezing cold but that is the football weather I like! And then we got to go eat at Carlos O'Kelly's and it was delicioso! (see how I'm throwing in Spanish words? You can tell I watch to much Handy Manny, Dora and Diego!). Anywho...then on Saturday I had to work all day....blah.

But then Saturday night I went to Turkey Bingo at the church then to my friends birthday party at Hana Cafe. The food was weird (I had green tea and red bean ice cream---so weird!) but the place was very quaint and it was no smoking! Halelujah! Sorry smokers, but as much as I don't mind people smoking I enjoy going to non-smoking restaurants. That is a whole other post in itself about how I find it ridiculous that the government is getting involved in making places non-smoking but anyways...I am getting off track!

Then Sunday was Leo's birthday! We went to Texas Roadhouse (more deliciousness!) then took little man over to my parent's so they could watch him and we could go to the movies. We had some extra time to spare so we went to Toys-R-Us and Barnes and Noble. It was just nice to spend time with my main man without the interruptions of daily life! Then we went to see Zach and Miri Make a Porno. So the nudity was ridiculous in the movie, so I suggest that if you don't like nudity don't see the movie! But other than that the movie was like a love story smushed in between pervy stuff! But that is why a guy and a girl can go to one movie! THe love story for her the pervy stuff for the guy. Am I right or am I right! Anyway...loved the movie. People who like Kevin Smith will get a kick out of it but Leo said it wasn't his favorite. I wouldn't say it's my fave, but awesome none the less! So there was a recap of my weekend. Awesome time had by me! Let me know what you did! I like to hear what other people did.

What the heck?

So, I have been trying (kinda) to lose weight. I have been doing a pretty good job and my clothes keep getting looser and looser, but I have a problem. All the pictures I take I look like a giant cow. I don't know what it is or why, but all the pictures I take make me look gigantic. So if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear how not to look huge! I will post a picture to prove my point. Also, the people I am in the picture with are like size 4 and 6, so I realize that I am bigger than they are to begin with, but the picture makes me look huge compared to them...let me know what you think!

time flies

Wow! Sorry it has been awhile since my last post. I have been sick and busy and just haven't taken the time to write. Well if you have been reading my blog you may remember that I had talked about wanting a new car for the family. Well our "wish" may come true. Leo's car's check engine light came on about a month ago but we were riding it out hoping it was nothing significant. Unfortunately the other day his car started to act like it was going to die. We took it to the shop today and to fix his car totally it will be around $1200. We paid about $300 today but that is just a temporary fix. So we are trying to figure out if we want to put another $900 into a car that is really only worth about $3000 trade-in. It is a '99 Honda Civic and I just don't really know that it is worth it. Maybe we can look at needing a new car as we have been wanting a small SUV (think Ford Escape or Honda CR-V) for our little expanding family and his car crapping out is a way for us to swing that. We don't have a huge budget to work with, but if we cut things out, like going out to eat and all the ridiculous cable channels that we don't need then our budget obviously goes up. But then we also have to think about all the student loans that are piled up and other debts that we need to take care of. I wish I had the EASY button from the Staples commercial. I would just push it and all my "problems" would go away! :) I put problems in parentheses because my problems are very minimal compared to what some other families have to deal with, like not being able to afford to eat or money for gas, etc. So thanks for letting me vent! :) Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Also, Leo's birthday is this weekend and I really wanted to get him some new Puma's but I don't think that is going to happen with the car repair bill. But oh well. He won't really need the new shoes since he will be able to drive to work. Am I right or am I right!
