Rainbows, Butterflies and Unicorns

I'm linking up with Megan, Anna and Michaela for their random acts of kindness post.  I swear I did a post like this last year but I can't remember when so I can't even see if I truly did it or if I'm just imagining things.  Oh well.  The whole point is to do some random acts of kindness (hence the name) for people and hopefully the kindness will be contagious and they will pass it on and so on and so forth.  This is something that is really simple and doesn't cost anything.  And really...this is something we should be doing every day.  But I made an effort to go out of my way to do some things.  Here is what I did:

Most Tuesdays we have dinner at my parent's house with my grandparents and have a family dinner.  Last Tuesday my grandpa wasn't feeling well so my mom had to leave quickly after dinner to take them home.  So instead of just leaving since she told me not to worry about cleaning up I decided to clean up the entire kitchen including washing all the dishes that wouldn't fit in the dishwasher by hand.  I really would have liked to have just gone home but I knew that once my mom got home she wasn't going to want to wash them either so I just did it.  And it made me feel happy knowing that she wouldn't have to worry about them when she got home.

I also sent a little care package to my friend who just recently had a baby.  As a baby shower present I got a whole bunch of little pampering items and I really thought it was a cute idea.  So I threw some stuff together that I thought she would like and packed them up with a gift card to Target and a cute little dress for her new sweet baby girl.

At work we have a new sales process that is kind of a struggle for some people.  On the last pay period we had our first employee meet their goal and got an additional incentive on their pay check.  Well it was a pretty big deal since this particular employee didn't even think she was going to be able to do it.  So I made a big deal about it and got her a special little prize and she was so thrilled.  It really made her morale go up for this promotion.

And finally...

A friend is having a birthday this week and she has a lot going on right now and I don't usually get her a present.  But this year I decided that she is definitely deserving of something special for all that she does for others.  She reads this so I can't put it out there what I got but I'm excited to give it to her.  It's nothing huge but still...I think she'll enjoy it!
So there are my random acts of kindness.  I now am challenging all of you to go out and do one nice thing for someone else.  It makes your heart grow!  And I'm sure it would be touted by the FDA that it would increase your life expectancy and that the side effects are: Smiling more frequently, feeling better about yourself and a non-crabby attitude when it comes to others.  I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of!

I love this! Jude's teacher has been asking the kids to do one "random act of kindness" each week, and it's really interesting the things he comes up with.

I think Sprite should also start on a random act of kindness, especially with all the greedy behavior she's been exhibiting lately..
