Am I weird or am I normal

So, this weeks spin cycle topic is about routines. I don't feel like I have that much of a routine to get my day started because my times that I go into work are different most days. But one routine that I follow is how I make dinner. If I get off work early enough that I am home by 5 or 5:30 I pretty much have a routine. I will start the meat (either preparing it or actually cooking it) and then E-O and I will sit down and watch a little Dora on Noggin at 6. Then about 6:15 I will usually start preparing the rest of the meal so that way it will be ready when the hubby gets home from work around 6:40-7 (depending on how busy his day is). I feel that way, when he walks in the door we are ready to sit down and eat. And depending on what I made I will try and have the kitchen cleaned up as much as possible so after dinner I can just sit on my butt. I just feel like sitting down to eat dinner together is an important thing I want to share with the monster. Even if most days we will sit in front of the TV because he can't really discuss with me what he did that day! Okay, during the week, I am responsible for making dinner so I am exactly like you. I like to clean up as I go since I usually have to go to the gym as soon as John is done eating or sit on my butt. Once the food is done, so am I. John on the other hand? As many pots, dishes, and utensils used as possible. He needs to work on his routine. Great Spin and you're first up! You're linked!

Agh how can you spin so fasssssst! I'm still chewing in the topic. Seems part of my routines is being oblivious about my routines!!

The Boyfriend and I have a "you cook I do dishes" thing going on. It's never fair. Why is it us girls clean up as we go, and they... use not only spatula but three THREE! And every pot and plates and ... oh gosh.

Good spin.

I like the eating dinner together idea too. We don't eat with the kids but we sit with them during their dinner and spend time together until they go to bed. Then we rush to get our own dinner and usually plop down on the couch to catch up on TV while we eat.

I think that is a good routine. After all, routines, hopefully, help simplify things.
Now I gotta get thinking about my Spin...
Thanks.

The reason I could spin so fast was because for whatever reason blogging was unblocked at work! Amazing!

And as for men and cooking/dishes, ridiculous! My husband complains that the house is always messy but when I tell him I spend my time cleaning his kitchen messes (the ones that actually matter!) he gets mad. Not my fault he doesn't understand dirty dishes go in the dishwasher!

interesting - I'm not familiar with E-O's age but I like the idea of the whole family sitting together.

Another rule for dinner is serve yourself (age dependent). Culture does change and I remember how my mother was expected to wait on everyone. That's not right and I didn't want to send that message to my kids. Now my wife would jump in and tell you that I mostly serve myself and fail to think of asking if anyone needs anything while I'm up. Some changes take place in small steps.

I like to get dinner on the table around the time my husband gets home too. This is one of the first habits I am trying to get back into since having the baby.

I tend to make dinner as my wife decided she had enough of the cooking in her life. I usually get home and she almost always asks me "so… what's for dinner?" Then after a good 10-20 minutes of determining what she really wants, I start making dinner.

Good spin.

It's apparently an epidemic, men can't clean as they go and need to use about 3 more pans than any woman.

Lately, PB has been making dinner while I feed LG. This keeps us all in the kitchen at the same time, and LG likes to watch PB cook. Once he's a little more independant eater, I'm hoping we can all eat together!

I'm the same way on the nights that I'm in charge of dinner (my husband and I take turns), always cleaning as I go-probably the 12 years that I spent working a restaurant that makes it second nature. My honey just litters the kitchen with wrappers and utensils as he goes-drives me goony! :p

I like a dinner routine, but since my hubs works nights, the dinner routine is only on his nights off.
